It is pretty odd and tragic how our priorities sometimes back-fire. A lot of parents I know will toil from dawn till dusk each day to provide the best future for their kids, yet by doing this they might be harming their children more than assisting them. You see, financial security is important, but it is not the most important issue in a child's development. Kids need continuous interaction, both with other children and their parents. This is, after all, how they learn and develop in the first years of their lives - some-thing that will affect them for the rest of their lives. The first time I purchased my kids audio books on cd was when I was going on a business trip for some weeks. I had been reading to my daughter from the same book every single night for a week or 2, and we were approximately halfway finished with it. She was very sad to see me leave, and I knew that she would really miss that tale. On a whim, I went to the local audio-book shop and discovered that I could get a copy of it. At first, she was a tad nervous about listening to the kids audio book. She told me that she wanted to hear me reading it, not some tape-recorder. Nonetheless, when she figured out that I was not going to stay it doesn't matter how much she pleaded and begged, she relented and decided to listen to the kids audio books.

She actually really enjoyed it. I like to believe that she still enjoys the way I read more than she likes children books on cd, but I bet it is a close-call. The kids audio book readers are great. My diction is not bad, and I am a pretty dramatic reader, but these are real trained performers. Your average run of the mill dad just simply can't compete! They know exactly how to read children books to make them thrilling and interactive, keeping your children on the edge til the very last page. Although my little girl is still sad when I leave town, the kids audio books make my trip a tad bit easier on her. Both of us are quite happy about that.
